Bristol Homebrew Society

Our story

From a Bedminster garage to Bristol's friendliest fermentation crowd.

Who we are

It started with a garage and a gas burner

Bristol Homebrew Society began with a handful of brewers crammed into a Bedminster garage, arguing about hop schedules over a shared kettle. We never really stopped. These days we're a proper club — monthly tastings, a quarterly bottle swap, and an annual competition with real judges and feedback you can actually use.

Beer, cider, wine, mead — if it ferments, someone in the room knows how. Bring a bottle, bring your questions, and you'll fit right in.

What makes us us

Four things we've held onto since the garage days.

01

Honest tasting notes

If your stout tastes of green apples, we'll tell you kindly — and explain why, and how to fix it next batch.

02

Every ferment welcome

Pale ales sit alongside perries, meads and country wines; nobody's drink is the wrong drink here.

03

Knowledge gets shared

Recipes, water reports, yeast starters — what one member learns, the whole club gets.

04

Good company first

The samples are great, but most people stay for the people.
