Ways to help
Most of our volunteers turned up to their first practical day never having held a billhook. By lunchtime they're laying hedges; by the end of the day they're hooked. But mucking in on site isn't the only way to help — fundraisers, letter-writers and people who simply talk about us at the school gate all push the work forward.
Start wherever suits — plenty of people end up doing all three.
Join a monthly practical day — scrub clearance, hedgelaying or pond digging, with tools, training and tea provided.
We're funded entirely by donations, so a sponsored walk or a village bake sale genuinely keeps us going.
Tell a landowner about corridors, share a campaign, or let your own garden go a bit wild and show the neighbours.
Our next practical volunteer day always has room for newcomers. Bring boots you don't mind getting wet — we'll sort the rest.
